A recent study of Ethiopian students revealed that employment is the main motivation for studying abroad. Students believed that their study abroad experience will prepare them for the labour market and that the skills and attributes they’ve acquired through the international experience would give the competitive advantage.
Among the skills identified by the students were: willingness to question one’s own and others’ ideas, the ability to clearly express one’s opinion, the ability to write and speak in a foreign language, the ability to rapidly acquire new knowledge and the ability to perform under pressure.
